Marc Q. Jones, affectionately known as “Coach Q”, inspires transformational change wherever he goes, by focusing on making the intangibles of effective leadership tangible. Through his engaging, common sense approach, Marc’s message on leadership is both relevant and relatable to leaders across various disciplines.
Marc firmly believes in the power of mentoring, and is very proud to have been mentored by two legendary Hall of Fame coaches - NBA coach Chuck Daly and renowned boxing trainer, Eddie Futch, who masterfully trained 4 of the 5 men who beat Mohammed Ali.
When he is not traveling the country doing speaking engagements, Marc travels with the Fresno State Men’s basketball team for whom he is the color analyst for ESPN radio.

Session One: Healthy Enough to Serve
Emotions affect how people function in the work place. Greater emotional awareness leads to better management of these emotions with others while on the job. Better management of emotions leads to more effective communication and leadership. Participants will learn to become more aware of negative emotions that affect our functioning in the workplace, and to find and use strategies that help manage and overcome these emotions.
Session Two: Be the Stake
“Recognition of the importance of the supervisor’s role (e.g. managing emotions, decision-making, communication, change tolerance and flexibility) are critical to effective leadership." Team Morale and team motivation are both driven by the leaders at every level. Every member of the team needs to know that his /her actions affect the rest of the team in both positive and negative ways.
Session Three: Controlling Conflict
Conflict cannot be avoided, but can be more effectively managed to maintain productivity and a better work climate. Ground rules must be established and communicated before conflict arises and must be followed and enforced equally. Practice being aware of body language, being an open and active listener can sometimes prevent conflict and helps with defusing conflict.
Session Four: Cultural Diversity & Inclusion
We have a diverse population and need to create an organizational culture that is welcoming and accepting regardless of ethnicity, culture, religion or sexual orientation. Let’s move past basic awareness of other cultures and life experiences and into a greater openness by embracing the perspectives of others.
What you will learn: 1) Participants will more deeply consider his/her own life experiences and the perspectives of others. 2) Participants will deepen his/her understanding of how known/unknown personal biases affect how we interact with those who have had different life experiences, points of view, and ethnic backgrounds. 3) Participants will learn that individuals have varying support needs to achieve success (equitable access).

Learn ways to recognize and appreciate your team! Create a positive work culture by recognizing successes and growth. Highlight the important contributions each team member makes. Create a greater sense of unity, communication, and pride by helping each team member understand his/her role in organizational success.

- Send an email to [email protected] and cc your supervisor and training liaison. Let us know that you would like to attend. If your supervisor does not approve your attendance, she/he will reply to your email request in order to cancel your reservation.
