(Co-hosted by Communication & Public Affairs team members: Alex Murillo, Grace Moore, Dadisi Najib and Coma Te)
- Bring your lunch and learn more about your Public Affairs team and why proper and timely communication is key when it comes to minimizing impacts to constituents during construction projects. We’ll review the San Francisco Public Works Project Outreach Guide, which helps us bolster public confidence in the delivery of San Francisco Public Works projects and services and helps us improve accountability. Construction impacts everyone, but with proper outreach and coordination, we can lessen these impacts caused by construction activity on the neighborhoods where our projects are taking place.
II – Construction Outreach Series - Session 2: Public Affairs Communication Tools and Resources
(Hosted by Public Information Officer, Coma Te with OneSanFrancisco Guest Speaker)
- Bring your lunch and learn about the tools and resources used by the Public Affairs team to conduct outreach and learn best practices for sharing construction-related updates and information. We’ll take a look at the OneSanFrancisco template and its requirements and uses, review the “In the Works” newsletter and various San Francisco Public Works social media accounts. We’ll dive deeper and look into various project web pages and how they can be used to share critical project information and updates, in conjunction with utilizing resources, such as: NextDoor.com posts, ConstantContact email blasts, and cross-agency collaboration efforts. Get a sneak peek and share your feedback on the new San Francisco Public Works Active Project Map.
III – Construction Outreach Series - Session 3: Communicating about Micro-surfacing
(Hosted by Public Relations Officer, Grace Moore with Streets and Highways Guest Speaker)
- Bring your lunch and join our guest speaker from Streets and Highways to discover a process called micro-surfacing -- how it’s applied and how it extends the life of our streets at a great savings for City taxpayers. Micro-surfacing is a two day process, compared to several days/weeks for full roadway reconstruction, which can include street-base repairs and repaving. Outreach is an essential tool to minimize the impact of the work on residents and businesses and for overall success.
(Hosted by Public Information Officer, Dadisi Najib with Guest Speaker from BUF)
- Bring your lunch and learn about our tree protection requirements and what precautions we need to take on our projects to protect street and sidewalk trees, how to identify early on whether trees/bushes require trimming before there is a conflict and how to protect roots. Hear from a representative of the Bureau of Urban Forestry (BUF) regarding contractor’s responsibility to protect trees and how the voter-approved StreetTreeSF program impacts tree protection and maintenance on future projects.
V – Construction Outreach Series - Session 5: Emergency Communication for Construction-Related Incidents
(Hosted by Alex Murillo, Manager of Public Affairs and Communications for Construction)
