Hazardous Material Identification in the Field
Did you ever wonder what happens to that bottle of chemicals we find dumped on the street? Now is your chance to learn more about hazardous chemicals and hazardous waste, and how we safely handle them in Public Works. You will learn what the different hazardous properties of chemical are, and the steps that we take to safely handle and dispose of illegally dumped hazardous waste. You will get to tour the hazardous waste storage area at the Yard, and to ask questions to the Department of Public Health’s Hazardous Waste Inspector, Jeff Nalle.

Mark Hennig is a Senior Industrial Hygienist for General Services Agency and Jeff Nalle is a Senior Environmental Health Inspector with Department of Public Health. Both have been working with hazardous materials for over 20 years here in San Francisco.
